STOP BULLYING ME

Visual Art Literacy Pilot.

VAL is pilot program for High School aged students and/or drop outs. It is a free program bringing Art History to a woefully under-thought and taught area of interest.

We have developed a course addressing representation around clusters of dates and/or major world events. Moving back and forth between 1453 (when the developing Ottoman Caliphate knocked off the Roman Empire in Constantinople), 1633 (when Gallieo was under house arrest by the Inquisition at the height of the Italian Baroque), 1969 (when the US landed on the moon…did we?)...you get the idea.

Classes meet once weekly for 10 weeks and will give participants an historically infused understanding of some major stylistic periods of largely Western Art. Participants will be responsible for one group presentation and there will be no tests or grades. The class is a non-accredited, extracurricular, opportunity to develop a more sophisticated understanding of history through the visual record. Exposure is the objective here.

There will be a simple advanced registration questionnaire to fill out, followed by a short home test to determine if this program is appropriate for both potential students and ourselves. Students will be notified shortly after about next steps.

Limited to 25. All classes remote.
